High Performance Driving Course Review

I was very excited at the thought of spending a day with Ivan understanding how to get the best from my Porsche Cayman S, but what I got was so much more. We spent 5 hours on the various key training tracks at Millbrook Proving Ground learning the dynamics of handling, emergency braking and ABS handling at 100mph plus, as well as understeer and oversteer handling. The focus of this session was learning how the car handled and how my inputs were helping or hindering the performance of the car as I navigated a high speed circuit and an exciting Alpine hill circuit.

I really appreciated the time Ivan spent helping me understand not just what I needed to do to improve braking, steering and acceleration but also the why, helping me understand how the brakes, tyres, suspension and weight all inter-play to either enhance or disrupt the handling of the car. Most of all Ivan helped me to realise how much more I had to learn, how I needed to really observe the road ahead and use the visible signs to anticipate what was coming and allow me to set the car up properly for the corners.

The day was incredible fun, very educational and an amazing experience; 7 hours of training passed so quickly. Ivan was confidence building, patient and incredibly focused on allowing me to get the most out of the day. For anyone that has a high performance car and a desire to learn what it can do, and what they can do to get more out of it, this is a must do.
