High Performance Driver Training Review
I bought my 997 Mezger Turbo from Northway Porsche in May 2013 and picked up the Total Car Control promotional DVD from the front desk, thinking it might be a good idea to get some high performance instruction for what has turned out to be an awesome new car. I opted for the full Total Control Masterclass, comprising a day of low friction handling, a day at Millbrook for dynamic handling and a final day on public roads. In three very different full-day sessions, I learnt more about my car, the road, and about me and how I can be better, than I would have thought possible.
Each day built on and developed my previous experience, as well as correcting habitual errors I’d picked up over a 35 year driving career. This is bespoke and highly adaptive training: from the get-go, Ivan will figure out where you’re at now, where you want to be and need to be, and will help you to get there. It’s worth going for the full Masterclass, and doing each component fairly close together, with a few days between each to rest and assimilate the new information (there will be lots and lots of it). Part One majors mainly on your car and its limits. Part Two develops that knowledge but also teaches you about your own limits in relation to your car’s limits and helps you to better match the two. Part Three is about both what you can and what you shouldn’t do within these extended limits on public roads.
Go for it; you will learn from it and enjoy it too. If you really seek to understand your car’s limits and would like to stretch your own limits, you should consider TCC your go to.
